There are times when you need to explain with words.

But there are many times when a picture—a graphic, an image, a diagram, a sketch—is better.

Communicate with Pictures

A picture can explain in ways that words can’t and don’t. A picture can be more intuitive and more comprehensive. A picture can, literally, help you see what you’re thinking about and then recall more completely. Working with other people, a picture can communicate, build a shared understanding, and be a decision-making tool.

Thinking with Pictures

Pictures can also help you think. When you think graphically, you can bring structure to your ideas, move blocks, create different spatial relationships and hierarchies, show values, place objects on a continuum, represent divides and overlaps, build connections—especially where there seem to be no relationships, express doubt, and find patterns.

Pictures in Obsidian

Obsidian offers a comprehensive and powerful—and yet straightforward to use—range of tools to create and share pictures. But more significantly, these tools are integrated within {a knowledge management system} allowing immediate access {to???} and for the drawings to be integrated into documents.

The tools and the drawings created with the tools can be synchronized between devices. Importantly, you can create these images without needing a graphic artist, and can tweak the pictures.
